ASTONISHED — Astonished : The original Greek word “thaumazō” means to be astonished, to wonder, to marvel, to admire. When the people of Jesus’ day first heard the story of His birth, they were astonished. The arrival of Christ the Messiah, the Anointed One, brought so many implications: Closeness with God, peace, joy, and blessing. That was first called the Good News by angels at His arrival, and it continues to be the same Good News that God intends for all people. He desires to love us, set us free, and be close to us.
